WESLEY CHAPEL - With Black Friday still a week away, the Shops at Wiregrass will kick off holiday shopping this weekend with its "Symphony in Lights" display. The program begins tonight and runs until Dec. 31. Designers have coordinated more than 250,000 LED Christmas lights with recorded holiday music performed by the Trans-Siberian Orchestra.
The program was created by Carson Williams, who gained national fame for the similar light-and-sound show he created at his Mason, Ohio, home in 2004. Williams' display was featured on YouTube and in a commercial for Miller Lite Beer. The music will be broadcast on a 2,000-watt sound system.
The centerpiece of the holiday display will be three Christmas trees - one of them 50 feet tall - in the mall's center court in front of Macy's. In all, the holiday display will include 3,800 ornaments, mall officials said.
The Shops at Wiregrass is at State Road 56 and Bruce B. Downs Boulevard.
