Knowsley Council is set to have a green Christmas thanks to the new energy saving bulbs used for this year’s town centre displays.
The new Christmas lights are almost entirely LED, longer lasting and need very little power.
Around 50,000 bulbs will light up Knowsley’s town centres in Huyton, Kirkby and Prescot as well as displays in Whiston Village and Halewood.
To mark the start of Knowsley’s festive season there are special celebrations planned for the Christmas light switch on events. Knowsley Council is teaming up with Juice FM for festive family fun and entertainment.
Special guests at the switch on events include Adam and Leanne from the Juice FM Breakfast Show, Danny Morris of Eton Road X Factor Fame and Victoria Jones - aka Kylie from BBC One's 'One and Only' Tribute reality TV Show.
There will also be performances from Vogue Dance Academy, Liverpool Theatre School, Dolphin Dance Studio and The Performance Studios, and the cast of Cinderella from the Floral Pavilion Theatre Pantomime in New Brighton.
Children will be able to enjoy the playbus and fairground rides, there will be special guests, and of course a visit from Father Christmas!
The fun starts at 3pm and the lights will be switched on at 5pm.

Cllr Graham Morgan, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Economic Development said: “This year’s Christmas light switch on and celebrations are bigger than ever before. There will be plenty of music, entertainment and activities for all the family to take part in.
“We want Knowsley’s town centres to be busy and festive in the run up to Christmas and the shops offer a great choice of presents for all the family.
“The new energy saving bulbs in this year’s town centre displays are also a great investment for Knowsley.”
